I thought I made a profit – what could have happened?

Profit may be affected by spread, commission, or slippage. Here’s why.

Reasons your trade might not show a profit

If you expected a profit but didn’t see one, here are some possible explanations:

  • Spread:

    • Buy orders open at the ask price and close at the bid price

    • Sell orders open at the bid price and close at the ask price

    • The price must move beyond the spread before your trade enters profit

  • Slippage:

    • During high volatility, trades may not execute at your intended price

    • This can affect both entry and exit prices, reducing or eliminating expected profit

  • Commissions:

    • Commission per lot is deducted from your funded account trades, make sure you account for them when looking at your P/L

    • The are no commissions per lot on challenge account

If you're unsure about a specific trade, feel free to contact support with your trade ID or position details so we can review it.
